Adding tags to the Add Event Form

I would like to add tags to the Event Submission form. I followed the instructions here, but this added a tag drop down list (which did not work) and not a tag field – https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/add-tags-and-acf-custom-fields-to-frontend-submission-form/
