Adding Text between Masthead & Blog Post on Homepage

Is there some way I can insert text that would appear on the homepage of my website just under the masthead and above the first blog post. Let’s call it “Static Background Text.” I’d like to be able to add new blog post but have the “Static Background Text” remain unchanged. I’m not talking about a motto, but some real information that can be updated about what the site is about and important current work we’re involved in. (If you would like to see our site, it is https://appliedethics.org/) Is there something that I can add that will permit this. If possible, I’d like this Static Background Text to appear only on the home page and not repeated on every page. Thanks. Bob
