Adding text, links and images below images

I’m looking for a way to extend the “caption” feature of images within blog posts.

My goal: insert one large image in a blog post, say a 250×400-pixel movie poster image. Instead of just one line of text below as “caption”, I’d like to include a caption, then below that a row of small image buttons linked to different sites (say, IMDB – Amazon – other), then maybe one or two links to related posts). The main text of the blog would wrap around the whole image/caption/buttons/text box.

To put it another way, I’d like to have an inset box floated left or right within the blog post — not just image+caption, but some combination of text, links and different-sized images. Newspaper sites use this sort of inset box all the time.

If I was creating the page from scratch, I would just float a div and put everything inside. But I’m not sure how to achieve this effect in a WordPress post.
