Hi there! I’m seeing some unexpected behaviour and wondering if this is a bug or just some setting I have managed to miss.

I have a product set up like this:
    Track stock quantity? Yes
    Quantity? 1
    Allow backorders? No

I am able to add the product to my cart, then open an incognito window or a different browser and still add it to my cart.

If I proceed to checkout on one of them the quantity is updated to 0, and if I try to buy it twice I get an error. But how can I block the product from being added to the cart twice when the stock level is at one single item?

(I am on the newest versions of WooCommerce and WordPress.)

From what I understand, you’re experiencing an issue with your WooCommerce product inventory settings, specifically with blocking a product from being added to the cart twice when the stock level is set to one single item.

Firstly, the situation you’re describing is not a bug, but rather a feature of how WooCommerce handles stock management. When a customer adds a product to their cart, WooCommerce doesn’t immediately deduct the product from their available inventory. This deduction only happens when the customer completes the checkout process. This is designed to prevent inventory issues if a customer adds a product to their cart but doesn’t complete the purchase.

However, I understand your concern about preventing a product from being added to multiple carts when you only have one in stock. Unfortunately, WooCommerce does not have a built-in feature to block a product from being added to the cart more than once when there’s only one item in stock.

A workaround could be to use a plugin that allows for real-time inventory updates. This would mean as soon as a product is added to a cart, it’s marked as ‘reserved’ and can’t be added to another cart. There are several plugins available that offer this feature, such as the “Reserve Stock for WooCommerce” plugin.

For more information on how to set up and use the Reserve Stock for WooCommerce plugin, you can follow this link: ?? Reserve Stock for WooCommerce

?? Just a quick reminder, all our extensions come with a 30-day money-back guarantee. So, if any product doesn’t fulfill your needs, we can promptly process a refund for you.

I hope this information helps. If you have any other questions or need further assistance, feel free to ask.
