Adding Transparent Box behind Site Title

I’m VERY new to wordpress coding. So, i’m anticipating this is one of a couple more questions i will have throughout my web designing process.
I would like to add a gray/black box behind my site title that is slightly transparent (to be able to clearly read the white site title).
Please help me add this and tell me where i can add it (Additional CSS from “customize, Custom CSS & JS tab from the admin dashboard.. etc).

To add CSS: If you are using WordPress 4.7, use the “Custom CSS” option in the customizer. If your theme has a custom CSS option, use that to add the CSS shown above. If not, install the plugin Simple Custom CSS. Or, if you have Jetpack installed, enable its Custom CSS module.
