Additional fields not stored for PayPal payments

I just tested the snippet here https://easydigitaldownloads.com/docs/custom-checkout-fields/ with PayPal and I can see the phone number I entered on the Orders page. It’s right under the Customer Details information.

Hi @misulicus it works for me too, but it doesn’t store nothing when paying with PayPal (very strange!)

Are you using the new PayPal commerce gateway or the old (deprecated) ones?

Umh… I’m using that gateway “PayPal Standard” that is inside the configuration, it inherited the settings I had in the old version of the plugin. Here it is: https://i.imgur.com/8Umh5I3.png

You should consider switching to the new PayPal gateway. The old gateways like PayPal Standard are considered legacy and we advise customers to switch to the new one.

Hi, I switched to the new PayPal gateway but the problem is still the same: the transaction works, the download is enabled for the customer but no additional meta are stored; the same process via Stripe payment works correctly. In the DB, the table wp_edd_ordermeta shows the PayPal transaction info but not the custom fields. See here: https://i.imgur.com/3J7zAFw.png
