Additional RSS category

Hi Rich,

This functionality is already built into the RSS feed in WordPress, you just have to use the correct taxonomy name (which in this case is press_category) if you follow the link: https://new.barnsley.gov.uk/news/feed/?press_category=general the RSS feed will be filtered by the category “general”.

By the way, a quick bug report for you, if you visit https://new.barnsley.gov.uk/news/ and hit the archive links you end up at broken links such as “news/2014/05” instead of “https://new.barnsely.gov.uk/news/2014/05” I think the link just needs a “/” adding in front of it.

Bug fixed – by you ??

As an extra ask on this, is it also possible to be able to pass in a date range to further customise the feed?

Specifically for a MailChimp campaign, I’d like to be able to get a feed of all the items published in the last 7 days that are tagged with a certain news category.

I didn’t fix the archive bug, its still there. click one of the archives on this page: https://new.barnsley.gov.uk/news/

I’m afraid changing the RSS would be out of the scope of this plugin, because RSS is a built in WordPress feature.

If you are wanting to do this, you can create your own RSS feed. One example of how to do that is here: https://www.wprecipes.com/creating-user-defined-rss-feeds-in-wordpress

RE the news fix, it looks like the plugin is outputting // at the beginning of the links when the $slug is empty.

I’ll rectify that now – sorry I thought you’d sorted it.
