Address fields can have a maximum length of 50 characters

If you go to the order details page for one of these orders, is the street address field very long?

Can you confirm that the customer is in fact entering an address value that exceeds 50 chars? We want to make sure that is in fact what’s triggering that error and not something else.

Yes in this case the address was 87 chars

Thanks for confirming. We’ll discuss this internally with Braintree engineers to make sure that trimming the address won’t affect decline rates etc. If it’s not an issue, we’ll add some code to trim those characters.

hi, we are having the same issue, a lot of our transactions are not working because of this limitation. Is there an ETA on the fix?

Any update on this. We too are facing this issue and the fields do not have more than 50 character.

@rohit1407 Can you share a link to your site? It’s possible your text fields contain an invalid character which is triggering that error.

This is a limitation that the Braintree API imposes on address fields that exceed 50 characters. It’s a valid error indicating that the customer’s address line is too long. We’ve reached out to Braintree about how to handle that case and will update this thread once we have a response.

We received a response from Braintree confirming that trimming the address line to 50 characters should not affect any downstream processes.

Version 3.2.39 released which trims address fields with a length of 50 characters or more.

We are using version 3.2.39 for a time already, but still we receive complaints from the customers that they get this error.

@veidenbaums did you verify the address entered by the customer(s) and did any values exceed the 50 character limit?

Yes, there are multiple, the last one we checked had an address with 64 characters.

Here you can see in the latest update that that streetAddress, extendedAddress, locality are limited to 50 characters in length.

Actually, the full address is 64, not a specific field. Maybe that’s the problem? Maybe you need to limit the shippingAddress to 50
