Address validation error

  • A summer camp registration form on a website I support recently stopped processing correctly over to PayPal. We have been using it for months, but just as of the last few days it started throwing this error:

    There’s a problem with your shipping address.
    Please return to the merchant and update your information, including your city, state, and ZIP code.

    Any thoughts? I made sure there was accurate address information in every field, including something in the optional Address 2 line. The country being used is “United States.”

  • It looks like PayPal has become more struct on the address formats. The fields have to exactly match those in the paypal database (state, zip, country)

    I’m not really sure how to fix this as it seems a lot of different platforms are reporting the same issue and I can’t control what people enter into the fields. For example they could enter: America, USA, US, United States etc.

    One possible option is to disable address processing. You would still get the details in the notification email but the data wouldn’t be passed to PayPal.
