• The plugin adds a couple of nice options to style and customize the cookie bar.
This is nice for blending it with the theme in use.

But the default content is in German and I’m not entirely sure if a notice in this form is still compliant with GDPR, but since I’m no lawyer, I can’t really review this part of functionality.

But the cookie bar also comes with a pretty prominently placed link to the plugin author. To make it even worst the link comes with target="_blank" and rel="follow" and I can’t find an option to disable it.
I consider this spammy behavior and would not recommend using this plugin.

That will leave a mark as that’s explicitly forbidden in the plugin guidelines. See this item number 10.

*Installs plugin on test installation and looks*

    It’s this line.

    https://plugins.trac.www.ads-software.com/browser/adsimple-cookie-notice/trunk/adsimple-cookie-notice.php#L1021

That’s just thick. Deleting that line messes with the formatting so change line 1021 to this.

    $output .= '</div><span class="powered-link"></span></div>';

And that will do it. I’ve not looked at the plugin too closely but 1100+ lines in a plugin that does that banner is a bit much. I suggest you delete that plugin just to be safe.

I’m reporting this to the plugins team.

Yep, I know the plugin guidelines pretty good actually ??

I’m super picky with plugins, so this one never touched a live install of mine. I tested it in a local environment and it’s long gone.

Reporting this is on my todo-list for tomorrow as well, but if you want to do it: go for it.

    Thanks Jan ??

Our mistake – we will implement the option to include this link if the user wants to be nice and the default will be off.

We have committed a version without link – will this plugin be reinstated?

That’s what I thought, @jdembowski and @krafit – fast with putting down plugins and slow when it comes to giving second chances and revoking 1-star review.
We are competitors after all I guess.

You are certainly no competitor of mine. And do not @ people to get their attention. That’s considered abusive here.

If the reviewer wishes to update their review they will do so.

@adsimple, Don’t ping people like that. If they wanted a notification they would have subscribed to the thread. I’ve archived your reply. If you don’t use the reviews here at www.ads-software.com as part of your business model then your business won’t get hurt by them.
