    Yes, it adds a comment in the source of the code (invisible from site front-end) which doesn’t affect or harm the site in any way.

    There are many well-known plugins which do the same. Few of them are W3 Total Cache, Yoast SEO etc.

    The purpose of doing so is just to make sure the plugin is active when someone asks for a support/help.
