adjusting media content display width

    Hi i set up a free site on wordpress.com (salemsonicsbasketball.wordpress.com) and upgraded to WordPress premium to be able to adjust content and the Twenty Eleven theme. I’m having trouble adjusting the content or media width. It says it allows me to adjust the media width, however when I adjust it to 1170px it does nothing. The page itself adjusts the size, but the actual media image I’ve uploaded stays the same instead of it’s actual size. Can someone help me?

    The paticular page in question is the Schedule Page. The image itself is 1170px in width but only displays smaller.
