Hi … if you use the plugin with this WP theme, there is a black banner area across the top of the theme, so when you click on a footnote number (the FIRST number)) in the text of your post, it jumps down correctly, but then the screen the user is shown is “cut off,” and it shows the second footnote and not the first. The first one is THERE, it’s just “hidden” behind the thick black banner of the theme’s title area. Can I adjust this so it jumps to account for the theme’s thick black banner at the top?

In other words, how can I make it “move” when someone clicks “footnote 1” so it shows the actual footnote (1) and not the second footnote?

I hope I’m explaining this ok. Linking to a demo of this WP theme so you can see what I mean by the top black area hiding the first footnote when you click the sup number. Thanks!

    Hi,

    sorry for the delay.

Footnotes use html elements for these jumps. Normally the target html element will be displayed on the top of the page. In your case the top of the page won’t be displayed because there is an overlay of an other html element (the black banner).

I will try to change the functionality in an upcoming version to use javascript instead of html elements.

    Thank you for the reply!

If you give me a CLUE as to which files to look in and what to try change (I know just enough CSS/HTML to be dangerous!) I will try to play with it myself?! Kinda desperate for a fix for this!

Unfortunately you can’t change this right now. It is necessary to re-write a function of the Plugin. I will do my best to change this function ASAP and notify you as soon as a new release version with this fix is published.

    Hi kay9,

only this weekend we discussed, where the jumps should go to.
I’m all for letting them jump to the center of the page and highlight the area to which the jump occured…
    Sounds good?

    Hi Mark,

Wow, what a good coincidence for me, then, that you happened to be discussing where the jumps should go, right at the time when I have this issue with this theme!

I’m all for whatever you guys want to do, or have to do, that will let the plugin play nicely with the theme I linked to (above). So, yes, do whatever you guys think will work! Thank you so much, again.

    Stefan/Mark, hi!

Is there any general timeframe as to when this fix you mentioned making will be actually be implemented:

Sorry to bug you! I know you’re working on it, and busy. I just LOVE this plugin and want it to jump so it clears that black bar at the top of the the theme I’m using. ??

    Thanks!

    Hi kay9,

we have published a new version (1.5.3) right now. Your ‘bug’ with the jumping mechanism is fixed now.
Just try our smoothly jumps to the footnotes anchor in the new version.

I will mark this topic as resolved. Would be nice to get a review if your issue is solved.

Thank you so much! It’s not showing as an update pushed to the site yet, but as soon as it does I’ll install and let you know/review. I already rated the highest rating and updated again just now.

    Thank you SO much!
