Admin account but no admin rights?

Long story short…I have been trying to add a live chat plugin to our site with no luck. I finally found a chat that offers code to insert in the backend of the site to add the live chat option. However, there is no option for editor in appearance to put the code into the footer on each page. Has anyone else had this issue? I have contacted everyone associated with the site and NOBODY has an idea of how to fix this. When in users, it states that I am an administrator but I cannot install plugins or edit the code.
Boss really wants a live chat so any help would be appreciated!!
