• Problem: Every time I load a page in admin area(under /wp-admin) it takes around 30s to make the left menu appear, and another 30s for the remaining area to appear.

However, the site (frontend) is normal. The loading problem only occurs in dashboard. Also, clicking buttons that does not involve switching webpages (like “Fast Edit” of posts or pages) is fast. The login page does not have the problem.

Additionally, after I have logged in, when I enter the main site, the main content shows up very fast but the admin bar at the top takes a long time to load.

If I logged in with an Editor account ( or another account except Administrator) , nothing happen.

This is a newly installed WordPress 4.1 therefore I didn’t activate any plugin. I tried switching between default themes but it does not help.

I am also wondering if it is related to RSS because the front page of the dashboard shows RSS error inside the “WordPress news” widget.

    Thanks very much!

  • My site’s pages average 4 second loading time and wp-admin have around 7-8 second. But at an average speed, 30 second is ridiculous. wp-login page is very small. Don’t mention it. And which kiind of hosting u r using? It seems a “tasks limit” and “maximum request problem”. can u say your hosting plan?

Suddenly, I am having the same problem. Dashboard takes a very long time to load and editing is extremely slow – often in middle of it I get this message:
Connection lost. Saving has been disabled until you’re reconnected. We’re backing up this post in your browser, just in case.

Same issue here. Chrome’s Dev Tools show over one minute TTFB, yet the front end is reasonably quick. Read that W3TC could be the problem, but disabled it (and a bunch of other plugins) and the problem still exists.

We run this site on a VPS along with a dozen others (four or five are WordPress as well), but this is the only site with the problem.

Just figured my problem. Google Analytics by Yoast was the culprit. Interestingly, I have this exact plugin installed on a couple of other sites on the same server, so it must be a conflict with something else.

Anyway, I switched to Google Analytics Dashboard for WP and all is good now.

    Good luck, everyone!

Same problem here too. Website loading is fast <5 secs. When editing or saving posts it takes ~ 1 minute.
    Any ideas?
