Admin area running slow
-
Really slow admin area now unless I disable your plugin. Tested on two sites running different themes. WordPress 4.4.2
Anyone else?

Ditto on this — took me a long time to figure this out, but the update to 3.5 made the wp-admin area super slow.
Had to disable this plugin, and I’ll have to switch backup solutions if it isnt fixed.
I too have this problem – admin area running very slowly – up to a minute to refresh. Very high CPU load on server while the page is refreshing. Deactivating the plugin restores normal functionality. I believe this occurred after upgrading to BackUpWordPress 3.5. The site is running WP 4.4.2
Thanks for reporting this folks, we’ll look into this and figure out the issue. We have a Github issue that we’re using to track this that you can follow along with: https://github.com/humanmade/backupwordpress/issues/1036
Also if any of you are able to do any more detailed profiling and post results to that ticket that would help a bunch.
Thanks!
Hi Tom anything you want to know in particular?
Shared Server
PHP Version 5.3.29-pl0-gentoo
Linux l1-a22-p53 3.10.1-hardened-r1
Server API: Apache 2.0 Handler
MYSQL Server version: 5.5.44Wodrpress 4.4.2
I tried switching to default theme and deactivated all plugins. Once enabled and even while enabling BackUpWordpress the issue started with the admin hanging.
Hey there @spanner555 – it looks like you shared more info on the ticket for us – thank you so much for that.
I’d ask anyone who can contribute to look at the GitHub issue (if you aren’t comfortable using Github just post here, that’s absolutely fine!) … in order to help with troubleshooting we need as much information as possible about your server and site setup – some of the information included above via @spanner555 is great and helps us to track this, also more information like we might get via the support module could help … if you want to provide this you can easily copy and paste that on GitHub or here.
To do that, go to the BackUpWordPress page on your site and then go up to the right upper corner of the admin page and click on the “Help” tab there. A drop down menu will appear, and you can go the to Server Info tab (look on the left side of the dropdown, at the top to find this tab) – and just copy and paste that information for us.
We might then have further questions, but this level of information will help us to track and link together what might be behind this slowdown issue, okay?
Thanks so much for your help, everyone, as we work together to try and fix this issue.
Kat
@katmoody I am happy to add the plugin again and try to run it then send a log / activity request to my server providers, they are usually most helpful and might be able to send me some details of use to the plugin authors.
A point of focus here is surely what has changed in the new version of the plugin from the old version , all old versions are running fine, but as soon as I update the same problem occurs with the current version of wordpress. . . .
Такая же проблема, пришлось плагин де активировать.
WordPress 4.4.2
PHP: 5.4
MySQL версии: 4.3.12
операционная система Linux CentOS.Updated BackUpWordPress 3.6.0 and have same issue . . . .
Same problem here, BackUpWordPress 3.6.0 and WordPress 4.4.2.
Same problem.
Also, not equally slow on different servers (all shared hosts with cpanel), from slow to completely unresponsive.
Removing plugin from all my sites ?? Shame. Here’s hoping you resolve the issue.
Same problem, the admin interface completely locks-up and becomes unresponsive, and times-out.
For a while if I waited about a minute, I would get a response. Now I can’t do anything, I need to use FTP to rename the backupwordpress plug-in subdirectory to do anything at the admin interface. This started about two weeks ago.
When I enable BackupWordPress 3.6.0 the admin interface times-out, so I can’t even get to the Server Info tab, but here are some details (let me know if there is anything else that would be useful to report):
PHP verison: 5.5.31
WordPress: 4.5
Server version: 5.5.40-36.1-log – Percona Server (GPL), Release 36.1, Revision 707
Problem happens with both Firefox and Chrome browsers
Problem happens even when all other plug-ins are disabled.I know the developers are looking at ways to help fix this one. As Tom mentioned above, if you have any additional information you can give us on server information, etc. that would be great and you can also check in over on GitHub on the ticket there:
https://github.com/humanmade/backupwordpress/issues/1036
Thanks again for being patient as we work to figure out what the problem is.
KatJust installed backupwordpress on one of my sites https://www.jagensport.com (194 mb) and it runs for hours and does nothing ? Used it on another site (45 mb) and backed within minutes ?
Is there now a solution to the problem ?
Michael
Same problem here, WP 4.5.2, Plugin 3.6.0. Automated backups (on server and to dropbox) worked fine, but plugin only backed up the database, not, as requested, the filesystem as well.
