Admin Bar shows there are updates, backend does not
-
I have WordPress 4.2.2 for a client set up with a few plugins and a basic theme. When I check the site on the frontend the admin bar shows that there are 4 updates, while the backend tells me nonen. When I force a check WordPress still tells me there is nothing to update. So something odd is going on here.

The active theme Envision I updated but that was done manually. When I checked the folder ownership and rights there seemed to be nothing odd about it. Folders 755 and files 644 and all by the same owner and group as other files.
Anyone any experience with an issue like this?
