Admin can't change e-mail on other user's profile

    I am an admin for a website that needs to host many users. I often get requests for e-mails on user profiles to be changed, so that they could request a new password for an existing account, and so far this has never caused a problem, and I have been able to edit and update e-mails for other users.

    On one occasion now I have been unable to change the e-mail. When I change it and update, I get a notification that update was successful, but the e-mail remains the same. I tried using an e-mail that I am certain is not already allocated to another WordPress account, and the problem persisted..

    Please help!
