Are there any plugins and / or guides for customizing the admin interface? Basically I want the admin look like the rest of site, without wp news etc, so that users don’t get confused. My intention is to use wordpress as a multi user environment for posting observations. It’s not exactly a blogging site in the usual sense, so I don’t want the users to get distracted, they just need to be able to add new posts / comments and upload photos.

If there are such plugins what are the better ones? Anyone using them?

    Thanks in advance.

you can hack it by hand yourself in wp admin, only trouble is it tends to get overwritten each new upgrade version of WP. I prefer to do this because I write my own custom “Welcome” message there on the Dashboard area, including useful links for registered authors.

there’s an alternative admin interface called Spotmilk, but I think it still shows the Famous WP People feeds. Spotmilk might give you the option. I also heard of a plugin called WP-Dash or so.

    you could try

not sure how much it suits your needs though

    Thanks for your replyes.

I don’t want to modify the wp files for exactly the same reason – upgrades will become quite difficult. Will have to play a little with X-Dashboard to see if that’s what I need.

Is anybody actually using such plugins? Would appreciate some feedback. Thanks.
