Admin is long gone. What now?

I’ve inherited a WordPress site created by someone who is long gone. I don’t have his log-in credentials, so obviously there are lots of things I simply cannot do. I need to create a new user account with full privileges. I tried doing this through the hosting service (GoDaddy) but they are clueless as to how I should proceed. Any help here would be much appreciated.
