Lately I’ve been receiving Wordfence Alert emails (e.g. for Admin login) with an attached debug[hash].txt. In that file is my password in plain text. It’s very worrying to be receiving these, what could be going on here?

  • Hi @da_mask,

Wordfence does not send emails with passwords in plain text.

Can you check the headers of the email to see who is sending these emails? (Usually under -> More Info, or -> Advanced in an email client).

If these emails are coming from your website, you may have another plugin installed that is sending these emails.

    Hi @da_mask,

We haven’t heard back from you in a while, so I’ve gone ahead and marked this thread as resolved.

Please feel free to open another thread if you’re still having issues with Wordfence.

    Thanks,
