• Hello,

I’m having a major issue with my blog login. I had a problem before with installing the web-hosted version of wordpress so I have reinstalled the platform and now my site is up and running again..

But I logged out of my account and now when I go to log back in as “admin” (which is the username I was given after I completed the 5 Minute Install) and enter the password given, it tells me password invalid. I have copied and pasted the password, typed it in manually and still it will not work.

I try to chose the option “Lost Password” and have the password sent to my email address, but it will only send me the password for a wordpress account I set up awhile back. It does not even list my “admin” username which I was given upon installation which I setup through my personal email address.

I’m wondering how to resolve this problem because it seems to keep repeating itself.

If someone could please help that would be great.

    Thanks!

I tried the “emergency reset” yesterday and I did receive a new password the my “admin” username but when I went to enter in the password in the login screen it said once again that the password was invalid…

I will try the emergency reset now, but I am wondering if this is a problem due to something else that I am not understanding because I can’t imagine when I install wordpress and first login the password is accepted, then when I try to log back in and will not work..

I was wondering why when you do a password reset, it will not acknowledge my username: admin that was given to me upon installation?

Because when I follow the “Lost My Password” option it asks for my email address, but when I receive the reset email the only username is a username I setup awhile ago that is just setup for the account not a blog.
    ?

If you have access to phpmysql, use the instructions for that route. If WordPress was installed automatically through your hosting service, contact them for advice. Any chance you use Bluehost and or fantastico?

    Hello,

Yes I use Bluehost. I actually used the 5 Minute Install myself. I originally had the .com platform of wordpress and it seems since this weekend trying to go from the .com to the web-hosted version has been a nightmere.

I do have the MYSQL database setup with Bluehost. I setup a new database and username once I installed the web-hosted version.

There is a bug with the password reset process–this is discussed in the link ClaytonJames provided.

Since your host is BlueHost, please use phpMyAdmin to reset your password as described in https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Resetting_Your_Password#Through_phpMyAdmin

    Hello,

I followed the directions to reset the password using the “phpMyAdmin”
I deleted the numbers and letters next to the “user_pass” and entered in my new password.

I then saved what I did and then tried to login with my new password. Again my password is “incorrect”

When I signed back into the “phpMyAdmin” and checked the password to make sure it was the new one I set, another long chain of letters and numbers were in place of the password I set.

Does anyone know why it keeps doing this? I am completely baffled??

You need to set the ‘Function’ pulldown to MD5 and yes, because it is MD5, the password actually appears as a ‘strange’ set of letters and characters if you go back and look at the data.

If the Resetting the Password Through phpMyAdmin instructions aren’t working for you, please try one of the other links in:

Yes I did change the function to MD5. I read in the “Installation” forum and saw that several other people were having the same trouble..

I have installed and uninstalled WordPress about 5 times now and still this login issue.

I visited the link you sent me and the only other option is the “emergency reset” which I tried yesterday and it was unsuccessful.

There must be another issue if after trying 4 or so of the options off that link that each one has failed….

    ?????

I’m not sure if I should again delete the blog and delete all the folders/files from my public_html root folder or what??
