when I try and login to my site
    …/wp-login

using the admin user name and password, it just redirects back to
    /wp-login.php?redirect_to={domain name}wp-admin/&reauth=1

I have followed the steps of manually resetting the password in the database. But that has not worked. Do I need to reinstall WP 3.1? If so, will that remove my posts and theme?

    Have you tried:

    – checking through Troubleshooting WordPress 3.1 – Master List

    – switching to the Twenty Ten theme by renaming your current theme’s folder in wp-content/themes using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to try logging into your site to get this to kick in fully.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or phpMyAdmin.

I did each of these things to no avail. Is there anything else I can do? Has my site been hacked?

    – ixwebhosting
do you have the domain name servers pointing to your hosting account?
    – Not sure

Do you have any .htaccess files? If so, have you tried renaming them?

    Bump…

I am having the same issue and I have ixwebhosting too… I wonder if that’s the issue.
my other blogs that are not upgraded yet, work just fine but I can’t log into the sites I have upgraded. I get this after the URL when I log in:

    /wp-login.php?redirect_to=http%3A%2F%2Fbiblequizfellowship.org%2Fwp-admin%2F&reauth=1

I know I have the password correct.
any help would be really helpful. please???

I don’t know if you are still having trouble or not, but for anyone in this predicament, the final solution was reverting back to the previous version of WordPress and everything started working fine.

Where can I get a old version of wordpress. I’m having the same problem with 3.1 but not with other blogs with past versions.

    SOLUTION FOUND!!:
ok I had this issue and searched all over creation and no one gave me a straight answer, so I figured it out on my own.
the problem is that 3.1 uses PHP 5.1 or higher, if your server doesn’t support that then your blog won’t work you won’t be able to log in and you’ll be redirected.

the solution is to talk to your service provider and ask them to switch you over to a newer server that runs PHP 5.1 or higher.
I use IXwebhosting and it seems that everyone that is having this issue uses them. I have been a customer of theirs for almost 5 years now, so my server was pretty old. it was free to switch BUT I had to re-upload everything and rebuild my databases and email and everything, basically I got a new blank webserver. but it was free.
and my old stuff is still there for 2 weeks after I told them to switch the servers (it took me a week to backup 5+ sites and databases).
the cool part about the switch is that the new PHPMyAdmin has a synchronize feature! so I just pointed it to my old server and it imported all my old databases instantly! it’s like the change never even happened!

so there you go, a long post that actually HELPS!

PS, please don’t ask me for help in doing this, I know how to help but honestly I don’t have the time, I work 2 jobs at 12+ hours a day, plus a family. sorry ??

PPS- you can find the older versions at:

    hope that helps.
