admin panel looks strange

  • Help–just installed WP–I can see my blog okay, but when I go to do admin stuff it doesn’t look anything like screen shots I’ve seen–
    mine looks like it is listing in a big long list with nothing looking good..

    2.7 checked it on safari and firefox

    total newbie–totally lost

  • I’ve had WP installed for about 6 months and logged in today and saw that the admin area is totally messed up. I have not upgraded or anything and am wondering how this could have happened on its own.

    I had the same problem. Here’s how I fixed it:

    I clicked tools => upgrage => re-install Automatically. I got an error message about an unexpected “&” in a file called “class-wp-upgrader.php”. I then went back to the admin panel and clicked tools => upgrage => donwload 2.8.4. I found the new class-wp-upgrader.php file and ftp’d it to the server. I then went back and clicked tools => upgrage => re-install Automatically. When it re-installed it solved my problem. Hallelujah!
