• I posted about this on installation today, but did not get helped. I tried changing the “user status” in my php database, but this did not make it possible for me to enter the main dashboard as the admin — instead when I log in I am brought to a dashboard that does not allow me to post or to edit, or do any other admin things like edit presentation, etc.

I do not want to give up! Any suggestions on what I need to do to get into this site as the admin.

I have not done anything to the site yet so no problem giving out the username and password — I will changea them once I am able to get in as the admin who can write and edit.

This site tells you how to change admin passwords — it does not tell you how to change user status levels. And anyway I did go in and change the user status, trying 1, and then 10. It did no good. I tried deleting and recreating the database, that also did no good. I tried deleting and reinstalling wordpress, that did no good.

I have tried everything I can think of. The only logical conclusion I can come to is that there is a bug with the version of wordpress offered by my server and they do not know how to fix it. They had no further ideas on what was wrong other than changing the user status level in the php database, which I tried several times.

I guess it might be time to choose another platform for this blog.

I’m having the same problem. I think the actual URL from your site would be:

    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/admin/

I looked at that and it all seems to be fine. The error/problem I’m seeing is when I try to post I get:

“Since you’re a newcomer, you’ll have to wait for an admin to raise your level to 1, in order to be authorized to post.
You can also e-mail the admin to ask for a promotion.
When you’re promoted, just reload this page and you’ll be able to blog. :)”

I’ve just uploaded the software to my site, so there isn’t any other “admin” besides me.

If you followed the steps to make sure you have the correct settings in usermeta, then log out and clear your browser cache and then login and try to post again.

Did that. Actually even replaced the entire computer. (separate issue) Still doing it.
