Admin Post area is messed up

  • My admin area in WP for the posts are now scrolling the name of the blog downwards.

    For example, hosting and free themes for wordpress now shows on the back end as:
    h
    o
    s
    t
    i
    n
    g

    Well you get the idea. I don’t know how to fix it. Has anyone had this issue or have any suggestions?

  • Hello!

    First of all, create a full backup of the site.

    Then, I’d start with deactivating the plugins one by one to see if that solves the issue and one of them is the culprit.

    If deactivating the plugins doesn’t fix the issue, you should switch to a default WordPress theme (e.g. Twenty Seventeen) and see if that changes anything.

    Hi,

    I did that. Jetpack is the culprit. Their update has bugs it seems.

    I’ve sent them an email for help. Unfortunately, I did not back up the site and another plugin puked on me because it was deactivated and lost all info for a popup email signup newsletter.

    That’s why you should always backup the site, because you never know what might happen, even if the changes seem to be minor.

    And it doesn’t surprise me that Jetpack is the culprit. It usually is the culprit for a lot of conflicts and problems. That’s why I gave up on it years ago.

    Thanks for your help. Jetpack has not responded yet to my post for help. My host does provide automatic backups. I guess jetpack may be removed if I don’t hear something by this afternoon from them. I thought they would be great for added security and a few other features, but …..
    The popup email grabber, I can always go back to recreate, but waste more time on redo. I’m disappointed that the settings did not remain when deactivated/reactivated.

    Blade, again thanks for the advice. I guess moving forward before any plugin updates or theme updates make a back up first. Lesson learned. lol.
