• Hi, I’ve found out how to promote users with publishing rights up to level 9, but as admin, I’m level 10 and they still don’t have the ability to edit other posts. It would be great for certain users to be able to edit any given post. How do I promote a user to do this?

  • You use phpmyadmin, you edit the users table and give them level 10 permission.

Be VERY aware that as they are also level 10, they have complete and total control too – they can wipe out everything just like you have that power. Unless you totally trust someone, and they will never get angry at you / your blog / the dog that belongs to another blogger that just dug up their lawn then do NOT give them that access.

“A user with User Level 9 will not display a plus sign (+) because one cannot promote a user beyond User Level 9. The User Level 10 user shows neither a minus nor a plus sign; that user cannot be promoted or demoted!”

All users, starting at level 2, can edit the posts of any user with a level either matching or below theirs. For example, a user of level 9 can edit every post except those made by the admin user (who is the only user at level 10).

also, is there a webpage to see what each level allows a user to do?
