    Hi xnau,
I like the versatility of Participants Database, thank You for this great work.
Using role editor I created a new role (copy of editor), but in the plugin / admin settings the new role isn’t shown.
    What can I do?
    Tank You

If the role is correctly registered with WordPress, it will show up in the dropdown where the roles are selected in the plugin settings under the “admin settings” tab.

What do you mean with “correctly registered with WordPress”?
I tried two different role editors to add a new role. In the WP backend the new role is shown, I can select if I want to edit role of a “normal” wp user. But in the admin settings of the participants database the role is’t show up.

I can’t say what’s going on there. I just tested this using the “User Role Editor” plugin and all the custom roles are showing up for selection in the Participants Database settings under the admin tab:

Also, the custom role needs to have the “edit_others_posts” capability.

my new role is a copy of Editor and contains “edit_others_posts” capability but it isn’t shown in Admin settings.
Maybe You have a limited number of roles? As I use some plugins, which installed their own roles I had already 8 roles – and all 8 roles are shown…

There is no limit to the number of rules, and certainly 8 is not a lot. How are you setting up your custom role?

Using “User Role Editor” by Vladimir Garagulya I copied the WP Editor role an named the new role pdb. In another case I tried “WPFront User Role Editor” by Syam Mohan, copied original Editor to an new role pdb-2. That’s all.

This I tried on two servers, but in both cases the new roles are not shown in Admin settings.

Hi, well User Role Editor plugin is one I tested and it worked, no problem.

I would suggest try adding a new role instead of copying a role.

    Hi xnau,

this is confusing: a day later the new role appeared without changing anything…

    Thank you

probably server caching, the cache gets cleared after a while and the correct settings are loaded.
