    Hi,
I have not been able to find the answer by searching, and I’m not quite certain how to describe the issue.

The admin theme seems to be broken, but not completely. Take a look at a screenshot:

I have tried reinstalling wordpress (all but wp-content) files as well as just upgrading to version 3.6 yesterday to no avail.

    Any thoughts? Thanks!!

Did this happen after the upgrade?

See the troubleshooting 3.6 master list if any of your problems is listed there: https://www.ads-software.com/support/topic/troubleshooting-wordpress-36-master-list

Also go through the basic troubleshooting steps listed there:

    – flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches.

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem? If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder from a fresh download of WordPress. by using FTP or whatever file management application your host provides. You may need to delete the wp-admin and wp-includes folders first on your server. Read the Manual Update first.

    – re-running the upgrade via wp-admin/upgrade.php

    Hi!
    Thanks for your prompt reply!

It happened before the update, but not after any significant event or upgrade. I have tried all the listed troubleshooting steps with no change.

    Thanks!

Did you try deleting the wp-admin and wp-includes folders before you did the manual install?

    No. I just overwrote them.

Try doing a manual install that way.

    Also check your file permissions:

Just manually installed as you mentioned and have the same result in the admin pages. Any thoughts?

    Thanks again BTW!

Fixed it. There was an issue with the htaccess file. I restored the default file and all is good in my world.

    Thanks again!

Thanks for posting that. I had a similar issue recently after using the PHP/CSS trick described at https://shapeshed.com/managing_colour_schemes_in_css/

The answer (obviously, now that I think about it) was to make the change to the .htaccess file in my theme’s directory rather than in the base directory of the whole site.

    cheers

    Chris
