    Hello,
Anyone else had this problem where every now and then a user who is an Administrator suddenly finds they can not log in and when I check their profile, their role has been changed to ‘no role’. Weird. Error reads “sorry you are not allowed to access this page”. When I log in as Admin and change their role back, I find their ‘nickname’ has also disappeared from their profile. After I fix, it works again – for a few weeks and then it happens again.
The site is using WooCommerce and Storefront theme.

    Any ideas?

  • Hello,

This kind of problem is usually caused by either a conflict with your theme or with another plugin. The best way to determine this is to:

    • Temporarily switch your theme to Storefront
    • Disable all plugins except for WooCommerce
    • Repeat the action that is causing the problem
    • If you’re not seeing the same problem after completing the conflict test, then you know the problem was with the plugins and/or theme you deactivated. To figure out which plugin is causing the problem, reactivate your other plugins one by one, testing after each, until you find the one causing conflict. You can find a more detailed explanation on how to do a conflict test here.

Please keep us posted, we will be more than happy to help moving forward.

Thanks for your thoughts Maykato. The theme is Storefront (latest version) so that isn’t the issue. And the problem with switching plugins off is that the site will not be functioning properly while I am waiting for the problem to randomly occur again, so I don’t think that is a good way to resolve the problem.

    Hi,

You can use another email (e.g. an email address you haven’t used for the store), and create an account as a customer on frontend. By default, a new customer is automatically assigned to the Customer role. If your store is not working the way it should, there is a strong possibility that the issue is caused by a conflict with one of the plugins you use.

    Hi @kitka

I would actually recommend checking in with your web host to see if they are caching the site at a server level. If so, perhaps clearing the cache would help.

If that doesn’t help, then going back to conflict testing, you could also ask your host to see if they offer a staging site and see if the problem is reproducible there. If so, you could deactivate plugins in that environment.

    Hope this helps!
