Admin was changed and now I can't access all of my dashboard

I’m the author of that plugin. There is nothing in it that changes any users roles, it only hides the dashboard from anyone currently having the role of Subscriber. There’s nothing in the plugin that changes the database either.

Are you logged in as an administrator or a subscriber when trying to access /wp-admin/? If you’re an administrator, then you should be able to access everything.

If you’re trying as an administrator and can’t, then access your server via your FTP program, go to /wp-content/plugins/ and delete the /wp-hide-dashboard/ folder. That will deactivate the plugin, which should allow you to log in again.

It’s very possible that another plugin you’re already using has a conflict with mine, hence the problem.

@coralie43 – Have you checked with your hosting company? Many hosts tightened up login access due to recent attacks on servers hosting WP sites – see:

EDIT – though if this happened suddenly, then a plugin issue is more likely the cause – and in that case, deactivating all of them will hopefully let you login again.

i haven’t but i wasn’t sure if that would be relevant since I can still access part of it

I’m not sure it would be, so try deactivating all your plugins by changing the name on the plugins folder – temporarily. Have you done that already?

i did delete the plugin, in fact, removed every plugin, so I am not where the error is coming from. I was logged in as admin and I am not sure what to do now I even deactivated the theme, still didn’t work… ??

I was able to use this:

and create a new admin! It worked perfectly. All of the accounts had been set to subscriber, I am not sure how, but it happened right after I installed that plugin. BUT we are back in business. Just in case anyone has this issue.
