• Hi,

I work for a small hosting company and we host about 200+ blogs and small business websites. With the upgrade recently to WordPress 5.3 we saw the introduction of the “Verify Admin Email Address” screen when logging into the dashboard

The problem I am having is that this screen pops up nearly everytime our users log into their website. On top of that if they click the “The Email is Correct” button they are taking to a “page does not exist” 404 page for some reason. This same behavior is seen on all of the sites on our server…so I presume it’s server related since I cannot image everyone using WordPress is dealing with this.

Does anyone have any ideas/tips on what could be causing this issue for our users? For now I’ve been telling them to hit the “remind me later” button and it works for a while.

  • Hello,

If you are using Memcached for your websites try the following:

    1) Remove the wp-content/object-cache.php file
    2) Clear the Memcached cache.

Once this is done check if the issue persists. The object-cache.php should be automatically recreated once the website is accessed via a web browser.

Do I remove that file on each and every site on my network? How do I clear “memcached”? I presume it’s different than clearing the cache.

    Thanks for the help!

If you use Memcached, you can consider restarting the Memcached service or using the respective plugin that is configured to work with Memcached in order to clear its cache.

If the file is present for each separate website on the Network, you may consider removing it. Test with a single website first and check the results, then proceed with the others.

To my knowledge we don’t use Memcached on the server. I can’t find that file or anything about memcached on our server.
