Administration panel is just text, no images or format

    Hi folks. Probably a newbie questions but I’ve searched and searched for an answer without luck.

    Installed wordpress and it appears to be working when you view it.
    I logged in and admin panel is just a vertical list of text links, each link brings up the options for that link at the bottom of the list.
    I’m guessing the CSS hasn’t kicked in?

    I’ve tried reinstalling, installing to root and subfolder, clearing cache and cookies and viewing on 2 different PC’s.
    All looks the same and not like the admin panel preview on the front of this site.

    Any suggestions?

    cleared server and started again on a different machine.
    rewrote config file
    installed in subfolder as before but now works fine
