• I’m experiencing issues with some blocks in the editor menu including the Site Title block, Site Logo block, and most importantly the Navigation block.

The images below show the exact issues I’m having with each of these blocks, and I believe whatever is causing the issues, is either down to the template, database, or my hosting provider.

No option to edit the site title, acts as a placeholder for the site title selected in the settings. Not a huge issue, but mildly annoying.

Same story again, but with the site logo.

Completely unable to create or modify any of the navigation blocks.

I haven’t linked the site since the problems are only present in the editor and not visible from a standard users POV, and the site is always down so I can keep trying to debug the issue.

I initially encountered these issues when trying various different methods of migrating, using the inbuilt option, plugins, and manually.
However, after installing a fresh copy of WordPress, multiple times, each install had the exact same issues.

Initially, I believed I had fixed the issue by removing files from softaculous that is installed on my cPanel by my host ‘Pebblehost’.
However this turned out to be a fluke, and a migration plugin called ‘All-in-One WP Migration’ turned out to be the fix, so long as the plugin remains installed and active, which is less than ideal.

For extra information, my locally hosted site that I have been attempting to migrate from has none of these issues.

Hi @ethank04 you are having these issues on a migrated site?

Please attempt to disable all plugins, and use the Twenty Twenty-Two theme. If the problem goes away, enable them one by one to identify the source of your troubles.
If you are worried about how your site will look when you deactivate the plugin, you can use the Health Check plugin to troubleshoot your site?Health Check

Hi, @thelmachido. Thanks for the suggestions.

Unfortunately disabling all the plugins and using the Twenty Twenty-Two theme hasn’t resolved the issue.

I’m not particularly worried about how the site looks as of now so I’m open to any suggestions.
    Speaking of…
Even after completing a fresh install of WordPress and resetting my cPanel’s files, the issue still remains.

Also, while I have tried it before and nothing of note came up, I ran the site health check again since you mentioned it, and it returned these. Not sure if they’ll help out at all since I’ve not been using WordPress long.

Hi @ethank04 thank you for the screenshots and providing more information about the troubleshooting stage, are you able to check this on another server. Maybe a local server, that will help you see if the issue is coming from your host ?

    Hi @thelmachido

Yes, I’ve tested both with a locally hosted server through a tool called Laragon, and with an online free hosting service that uses a similar set up with cPanel and Softaculous (not that there is any evidence that these are causing the issues).

The locally hosted site worked just fine, functioning exactly as my initial local hosted site that I was migrating from.

The free hosted site however had the exact same issues with slight differences. Such as instead of displaying ‘site title placeholder’ in the editor, it would instead display the site title but still prevent me from making any changes there.
The problem with the site logo was exactly the same. And the navigation block initially appeared to not be working, but after creating a new block and ignoring the “You do not have permission…” and “Your changes will not be saved…”notifications, I was free to add links, modify the navigation block and save the changes just fine.

So far I’m coming to the conclusion that I should simply move this onto my host and have them deal with the issues since it seems to definitely be due to something on their end.
But if possible I’d like to rule out everything else beforehand, that way I can link them to this thread to cut down on the explanations.

Hi @ethank04 from what you have shared it does seems like there is something on the server end of things that might be causing this. It would be great to reach out to you host.

Additionally, you can also try migrating your site to another online free version called instawp.io Check to see if this server will work as expected or if you will have the same issue.
