After updating my site to WordPress 4.1.1 I have had many issues.

After recovering from the WHITE SCREEN OF DEATH, the major issue I have right now is that each time I login as an administrator I am redirected to the /wp-admin page and the display window reads “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” . I can navigate around this to access my dashboard to do what I need to. BUT I also see this page when I try to login and edit my administrator (or any administrator) profile. How can I fix this problem?

Secondly, I think that this “administrator” rights issue is preventing me from re-installing a critical Plugin (CP Contact Form with PayPal).

I’m not a coder, but I do have Sublime Text 2 setup and I can navigate to folders and make changes to code if I have specific instructions.

Perhaps somebody could be assist me in making my administrator profile a Super Admin? Would this help? I’m lost

Any suggestions would be much appreciated

    You’re welcome!

    Hi,
I came across this discussion and I’ hoping you can also help me. I can access all pages in my admin fine, but there was couple of menu items that I had a coder to develop (along with its files…etc.) in the menu which were suppose to do manage certain things. Since I had another coder to do something else to my site, the menu items in admin have disappeared and when I try to browse to that page which was:
    https://domain.com/wp-admin/admin.php?page=manage-percentages

    I get this error:
You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.

Any help to correct this will greatly be appreciated.

This is happening with me too. I’ve got the 4.4.1 version of WP installed and I have installed a theme i.e. https://themeforest.net/item/wedding-industry-multipurpose-for-wedding-couple-site-wp/12744555

in the the admin panel i am getting this message when I am trying to install the the plugins that the theme requires:

“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”
    URL: https://www.jullus.org/wp-admin/network/themes.php?page=tgmpa-install-plugins

So I have followed your instructions and:

replaced: a:1:a:1:{s:13:”administrator”;s:1:”1″;} by {s:13:”administrator”;b:1;} ensuring the 1 is the ID of my WP admin account.

    Then I’ve re-set all the plugins: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/FAQ_Troubleshooting#How_to_deactivate_all_plugins_when_not_able_to_access_the_administrative_menus.3F

And I am still getting the same message:
“You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.”

Why is this happening and how can we fix it?

    Thanks

@tomboa, your error is a different issue.

Unfortunately your issue is to do with a commercial theme so you should really ask the theme owner. This forum is not for supporting commercial themes.

As it’s a commercial theme and there is no access to the source code, I can only take a guess at what’s wrong. Sounds like they have misconfigured the TGM Plugin Activation library they use to require plugins which is causing your issue.
This may be because they are using an out of date version of the library or because they have not adjusted the configuration properly.

    Hi Jrf,

Thanks for your help. I have been downloading the plugins and installing them by hand – as in ftp up the each plugin and activate on the manually. Not ideal but at least it’s working.

Thanks for your quick response. – Next time I will tell my brother to let me install the WP and theme myself N00b! ??

I’m having a similar problem with “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page.” error message. This shows when I go to the wp-admin page.

I can log in since the browser auto logs me in. I see parts of a WP menu bar and it shows I’m logged in, but the dashboard menu doesn’t show or drop down.

    chs-psfa.org.

I haven’t added or updated any mods lately. Same result on different browsers and smart phones.

    Any help would be appreciated,
    Thanks
