Hi – I’m setting up a forum for a client and love Simple:Press so far EXCEPT that my SP admins cannot approve new posts by using the “Tools” button/popup. I’m able to do that as the wordpress admin but my clients are the ones who need to be able to manage their forum. I know they can automatically approve a new post by replying, but they don’t want to do that every single time and would like to do it with the Tools popup box instead. Am I missing something? Is there a way to do that? Here is a screen clip of the popup the admins see – https://www.fenwickpark.com/wp-content/uploads/2022/11/simplepress-admin-tool.jpg

Moderators should be able to approve new posts, not just admins.
Have you added the user who should approve posts to the MODERATORS group?
You can do so under FORUM -> USER GROUPS-> MANAGE USER GROUPS

I added them to the admin section FORUM-ADMINS-MANAGE ADMINS. When I go to the Manage User Groups, it doesn’t let me add anyone. Clicking on the ‘add’ button shows no users and when I type in the search area, nothing shows up.

Are you trying to add the same users as admins and moderators? That might not work – you can remove them from the admins area and then see if they show up in the MANAGE USER GROUPS area.

If you’re unable to see users in the MANAGER USER GROUPS area it is possible there’s a JS error being thrown – can you take a look at your browser console to see if there are any error messages?

Removed them from admins and made them moderators but it made no difference – they still cannot approve posts using the “Tools” button. So I guess they will just have to answer a post in order to approve it.

It took me a while to realize something – you’re correct.

I have a premium plugin installed on my site called “Admin Bar” which centralizes some of the moderator notifications. With that removed, the admin/moderator will need to respond in the thread directly.

    Thanks.
