I know what is happening, but I’m not sure how to fix it. My hosting provider,Dreamhost, dropped support for the PHP mail() function which I was using the run the my WP site. I also required all admins to have a verification code to login. Now, because mail() doesn’t work, no admin ever receives the verification e-mail.

Now, I can’t log in to the web interface at all. I do have SSH/file/DB/WP-CLI access. Does anybody know how to disable the verification code requirement so I can login to fix mail/SMTP issue?

What plugin did you use to require the 2FA? Just rename that plugin’s directory in wp-content/plugins to disable it.

I just noticed that the two-factor authentication was a plugin and not a part of the wp core, myself. I deactivated the two-factor plugin and I was able to log in.

We both got there at the same time.
