• I’m sory if I posted wrong. I post on message boards all the time but this one was set up different and once I replied back to you, I don’t think you saw my reply. So, here it is in a new post all together.

You must think I’m a big goof ball. I’m going to be ok once I get going, I’m sure. Thanks for your help in getting me there.

I tried your recommendation and used the c-panel-x tutorial. Podz, I am stuck now. I made it through the tutorial but got stuck at the last step where I am supposed to “run installation”. I don’t really understand where on Bluehost to find this directory to upload the WordPress stuff to, or how to upload this wordpress stuff. I am so frustrated– I don’t know what most of the buttons on bluehost are for!I thought it would be a bit easier. Anyhow, I made it through the entire tutorial completely & smoothly until this last step. Your help is so appreciated!

    Thanks,

    ~Steph~

  • Stepherz, I just signed up with Bluehost. Unfortunately they’re not at all clear in telling you how to install WordPress so I had to hunt through these archives to get an answer.

Click on the Fantastico button (the blue happy face) in your control panel and it’ll take you to a page where you can install various blog programs. Find the WordPress one and click. Click on the link that says something like “New installation” and it’ll take you to an area where you need to fill in your username and password. It’s smooth sailing from there.

I tried that silly button yesterday. I stumbled upon it on accident. I did exactly what you said 2 times. I don’t know if it uploaded the necessary files or not. I wouldn’t know if it worked or not though because I don’t know how to get it going/how to get into WordPress now. I bet it installed as you said. However, what now? Is there a website I need to go to to start using it? Is there an icon in my panel that I should click on?

Steph, usually it gives you the blog’s url or the login page url right after you have successfully installed it. Do you maybe remember what directory you put it at..example: domain.com/blog, or /wordpress/ maybe?

    Stepherz,

Like Spencer said, it depends on which directory you put it in. For example, type in yourdomainname.com and see if it shows up.

You’ve had all the best advice ??

I’d add one thing – when you changed to Bluehost you will have had to alter the DNS at godaddy. That can take some time to propagate so that make cause funkiness.

It’s 23:15 here my time but if you can’t get it sorted, drop me an email and I’ll help you out first thing in the morning.
tamba2 at gmail dot com will get through ??
