Ads on weaver theme and weaver child theme

Hi, I recently changed to weaver theme from twenty ten, I created a child theme on weaver and used the page and post templates from twenty ten to show ads at the top and bottom of the blog. Is it ok to use twenty ten templates as a child theme of weaver? Is it ok to do it that way? or will that create problems in the future? It all seems to be working ok with them templates
