• I just signed up to be an affiliate for an online movie poster store. Naturally, I need to put up a banner. They have one available that changes whenever you refresh the page so that people see a different poster every time. The ad is enclosed in an iframe, and I found that when I tried to paste the code anywhere (sidebar, header, footer), the ad doesn’t show up. According to the site, it takes about 10 minutes for the ad to show up, but when I tried it earlier it didn’t work. Please advise. Thank you.

  • There is no reason why the ad will not show.
So long as code is kept out of The Loop – and yours is – it should render just as it does on any other page.
Got a link we can check?

I tried putting the code in index.php of the template, below “Previous Posts”. You can see that only the URL shows up but not the actual ad. I tried putting a smaller ad in the sidebar but it didn’t work either. I tried doing the same thing to another theme, but it didn’t work either.

seeing sidebar, but only AFTER I turn off my FF AdBlock extension. you have an adblock or flashblock thing enabled on your browser by any chance?

David- I also use Firefox, and I see the small ad I put in the sidebar. I don’t see the one that I put down the page under “Previous posts”. All that shows up down there is the link to the site.

Perhaps it would be better to use a regular banner rather than an ad with iframes?

    Hi everyone,

I just checked my blog on a different computer. As it turns out, the ad is showing properly. Why isn’t it showing up in my computer then? At first I was thinking that it’s a Firefox setting, but when I checked my blog on my computer in IE I still don’t see it. Advice, please?

    To recap:

iframe-based ads don’t show up when I view my blog on my computer, regardless of which browser (IE and FF) I use. It looks perfectly fine on my boyfriend’s computer, and as far as I know his IE and FF have the same settings.

I tried going on the Mozilla forums to find the answer. When I couldn’t find it, I posted this same question but no one has replied. This is really confusing. Please help.

Don’t know what to tell you really. I’m seeing them. Maybe it’s a cache issue or you’ve got the ad sites nulled out in a hosts file or something.

I cleared the cache many times and the ads still don’t show up. I don’t know what you mean though, by nulling out the ad sites in a host file.

I don’t know what you mean though, by nulling out the ad sites in a host file

By setting the URL’s of known ad vendors to the localhost address, thus rendering them worthless.

Wow, that is a grandaddy of a list indeed!
