Adsense ad placement

Hi @captainmet,

How specifically are you adding the ad? And, how should it look like?

I am just running auto ads
Previously, there was no ad in between the logo and the menu, so the page looked like a regular page. Now I, atleast, get a half screen horizontal ad.
Is there an ad there for you?

Have you tried a plugin like Ad inserter?: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/ad-inserter/

yeah thats what I am talking about, the ad there takes up the entire page. its insane.

So, I took your advice and am using ad inserter, but how do I use it to define a place to have no ads. I can only work out how to place ads where I want them

Are you suggesting that I stop adsense from serving ‘auto ads’ and manually place them?
I’m not against it, but I’m just a little confused as I have 2 other sites that this isnt a problem.

Do you know of any CSS code or anything that I could ad to just stop adsense from jumping into the logo/menu space?

Here’s a CSS you may try if that’s what you prefer:

header#masthead .google-auto-placed {
    display: none;
}

You may add this in Customize > Additional CSS.

I can’t see the CSS added from my end. Try clearing all caching mechanisms set in your site. The site may still be cached.

AdSense does not recommend using display:none.

I would either place this ad unit manually (find here a tutorial about how to realize this using Advanced Ads), or disable this specific position in the Auto Ads settings of your AdSense account.

Thanks, I was trying to disable the position in Auto ads, but when I am in adsense, it doesn’t show it as a place with ads, so I cant select it. Its a little annoying.
Like you said, I might have to do it manually.

I was just a little confused as to why its an issue with this site and not with 2 other sites on the same theme.

@captainmet Do you have the exact same structure for this site as the other 2 sites? With the site logo at the top of the menu?
