Advanced Ads is reporting ad impressions stats that are much higher than the number of page views that WordPress/Jetpack is reporting for the site on which the ads appear. The ad impression numbers are nearly 5 times higher than the page views.

For example, in a given month Advanced Ads will report, say, around 1.4 million impressions for a particular ad over the course of the month, while Jetpack will report that my site received around 318,000 page views that same month.

I know that sometimes the same ad will appear in two spaces on the same page, and that a visitor’s scrolling up and down on a page may result in multiple impression counts for the same ad. However, the discrepancy seems larger than these could account for.

Am I correct in thinking this discrepancy indicates a problem? If so, does anyone know what the problem is and how to resolve it? Thank you.

    Hi dailynouseditor

    Thanks for reaching out.

Ads appearing multiple times on the same page are a valid reason for the observed behavior, but there are also differences in the choosen tracking method.

Maybe additional bot detection and more advanced filter in Jetpack are also playing a role here. While you’re also running AdSense ads on your page, I suggest using their internal tracking for another comparison as well.

You’ll also find a list of possible reasons for discrepancies in tracking numbers in your manual.

I also recommend running the latest version of the Advanced Ads plugin and its add-ons.

Since your question is referring to a premium add-on I want kindly ask if you can direct any additional questions related to this topic to the customer support directly. Thanks for understanding, and hopefully meet you there.

    Best regards,
    Henning
