Advanced Custom Fields is slowing down my site

We are using this plugin on two sites:

https://dancefilms.orgAnd on both sites, our clients have complained that the site is moving really slow. When I contacted Rackspace, the company hosting both sites, they came back with Advanced Custom Fields as a reason for the slowdown. Also, when I try adding fields on the back end, the site always freezes up. Are there any updates available that make the plugin work more smoothly.
