Hi, a new version of the plugin is available for testing. This version can be installed directly from your Plugins page as follows:

    1. Download the Development version zip from here: https://www.ads-software.com/plugins/tinymce-advanced/advanced/#download-previous-link
    2. Go to you site’s Plugins -> Add New.
    3. Click on “Upload Plugin” button (top/left).
    4. Click on “Browse” and select the just downloaded zip file.
    5. Follow the instructions to update the plugin.

The new version contains mostly bug-fixes. Also some of the additions to the block editor were removed from the plugin as now they are available as default features there. This includes the text and background color side panels, and the side panel menu.

Please comment here if you find any bugs or if you tested it and all looks good.

    Thanks!

This is great news the plug-in will be maintained! One note about removing functionality. We exclusively use Elementor Pro and this plugin is great for providing a richer text editing experience in Elementor. Since text is on every page, this plugin authors all our text.

Removing features because they are available in the block editor will be a downgrade for some. We won’t be switching to the block editor just to get those features back. Just some feedback hoping not too much is removed.

Thanks for getting the community an updated plugin.

I understand your concern. The functionality that was removed was for the rich-text toolbar in the block editor (the toolbar that shows when you edit text in paragraph blocks, etc.). The rest of the plugin works as before. All TinyMCE buttons can still be added or removed when using the classic editor or in classic blocks in the block editor. Try the beta version if possible and let me know what you think.

(Edited the topic to hopefully make it clearer.)

I was just looking up to see if this plugin would get an update any time soon, and am glad it will, thank you!

The plugin is still working great in multiple of my, up-to-date sites, but in general I would not use, or at least hesitate, to use a plugin that has not been updated for 2 years.

Looking forward to the new stable release of this beta version.
Any idea when that will be, please?

    Thanks!!

Hoping to get some more people to test this release as there are couple of larger changes. Should be this month, hopefully ??

    Hi Andrew,

    Thanks for your reply!

I downloaded the plugin and will try to test it as soon as possible.
Is there a list of what is new, so I can test specific things?

Nearly all changes are to the block editor part of the plugin. Some things like the side-panels have been removed as similar features are now in the block editor. There are also some fixes to the Classic Paragraph block.

Would be great to check if everything works and looks as it should in the block editor especially when using and converting to and from Classic Paragraph block. Any post can be restored to a previous revision if something goes wrong, just remember to “Save draft” often ??

    Thanks for the clarification.

Hmmm, that will be hard for me to test, I do not work with the blocks at all unfortunately, just in Elementor, your plugin adds nice options in there too.
So the changes won’t be visible while editing with Elementor?

    Hi,

I installed development version, however, Text color (selected text color and selected text background color) is missing from this version. Could you tell me why? I loved that feature.

If we would to install this beta version, does the auto-update work when the non beta version releases?

    Hi @azaozz
Is there any update on the new stable release of the plugin? I am using MathType for WordPress(WIRIS) for years. But after updating WordPress to 6.1.1, it’s now throwing an error(Failed to initialize plugin: tiny_mce_wiris).

Right. Had to remove them as this functionality is now available in the block editor (Gutenberg) by default. See the “Highlight” menu item in the drop-down.

    It should work, afaik.

Not sure if the error is related. May be better to try to get some help from the MathType for WordPress authors.
