• Hello.

First I would like to thank you for a great plugin which helps me a lot. Right now I am a little bit stucked between two plugins both related to excerpt.

I am using Restrict Content Pro plugin and using <!– more–> tag to mark where the free content ends and payed starts. Sometimes it is in the middle of very long article and of course I don’t mean half of the article as an excerpt. ??

What is my issue? Look at my archive page – https://www.magazinuni.cz/rubriky/aktuality/. R test is a restricted post with <!– more–> tag after the third paragraph. All other posts are unrestricted. If you look at archive page, you can see that your plugin is doing great job with all posts … without <!– more–> tag. As soon as I put <!– more–> tag into the article, the post on the archive page is always shown from the start to the <!– more–> tag and Advanced Excerpt doesn’t cut it shorter.

Is there any way how to force Advanced Excerpt to ignore <!– more–> tag and work with such content as with any other post? I need to show all posts the same way – the Restrict Content Pro message about restricted content must be visible only when I open the post in detail (and I can’t use their shortcode because there is some issue with content copying).

Sorry for such long story and thank you in advance for any piece of advice.

    Regards

    Filip Selemberk

    Hi @filips75

You’re welcome and thank you ??

By default the <!--more--> should be disregarded by the plugin and it should still do it’s thing.

There is an option in the plugin which allows posts with <!--more--> to be skipped by the plugin, but it’s not on by default.

That option is in WP admin > Settings > Excerpt, it’s in the middle, you’ll see “Only filter the_content() when there’s no break tag in the post content”.

Is the checkbox for that option checked? If it is uncheck it and save changes.

    Hi.

I know about this option. My settings of Advanced excerpt already was to filter the content with this option unchecked. I didn’t mention that I am using Generatepress as my theme and the page I am talking about is Archive – list of posts within some category. The settings in GP is to use full content in Archive page.

    Hi again.

It seems that the problem is on GP side. If there is a <!–more–> tag in the content, it shows just that part of content even if the settings tells to use whole content instead. I am in touch with them.
