• I see many references to an advanced posting screen where the user can edit the except, etc. How can I enable this? Is this a seperate plugin, or a feature built-in? I have version 2.

  • It seems if that was a WP 1.5 thing (never used it). In 2.0 all of those option are already included in the write > post window (in the sidebar and below text editor).

Okay, I found the “Optional Excerpt” field on the post screen, but what about pages? Why can’t they have excerpts?

Pages don’t have Excerpts because you usually show a complete Page, not a series of Pages on 1 webpage with teaser/excerpts of each.

Posts are often shown, like, 10 posts on a webpage.

Pages are just, 1 page each usually.

By the way if your Page is longer than you want on one page — like it’s a book — you can paginate the Pages. I know it sounds confusing but it’s real basic…
    At the bottom of your Page “My Book” you’d have this: Turn to page 1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5

I’m sure they could if you wanted but that would show an excerpt on the page and then a link to the full content. One too many clicks to get what you need in my opinion but you may have other motives. I think you would just simply replace the_content with the_excerpt on page.php. Never tried it though.

Well I want to have one part of my website for things like news, etc that is updated often. The other portion of my website will be much more static. The static part will obviously be pages, but instead of a boring list of static pages, i would like to create a listing of the static pages with excerpts. I’ve hacked some plugins to allow this, but the only thing left is to be able to enter an excerpt for a page. I guess I will have to hack this too.

Hi, i’ll be faster: In my write window doesn’t appear the “quick tags”. I tried to enabled the Advanced Post Editing, but i can’t found that option. I have wp2. Suggestions? Thanks.

ps: i’m latin, sory ’bout my english ??
