advanced search functionality?

  • hi,

    is there a possibility to have an advanced search functionality in wordpress? i am thinking of a search page allowing for a complex search with different criteria, i.e. a date range and author specification in combination with words from the title and/or the full text of the entry.
    probably one needs extra entries in the database; is there a plugin which does this?
    if not, do you know of any other opensource weblog/cms system with this feature?
