Hi, I’m running the latest versions of both my site and the Yoast plugin. The advanced section of my SEO settings for Yoast has disappeared from my plugin.

I have tried deactivating/reactivating the plugin, as well as trying to switch the settings for the “Security: no advanced settings for authors”, but when trying to toggle that switch it tells me that I need a higher level of permission to save changes to my site. I’m the only admin, so I’m not sure why it’s giving me that error. Please help!

    Hello Smaisley,

We are sorry that the Advanced tab of the Yoast SEO metabox is missing even after your troubleshooting steps.

Often, we see problems occur in combination with another plugin or theme. The fastest way to rule out any conflict, is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Twenty.

Please test this on your development or staging site, if you have one. If not, we recommend using the Health Check & Troubleshooting plugin. This plugin has a troubleshooting mode, which does not affect normal visitors to your site.

If you’re unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we’d like to point you to a step-by-step guide that will walk you through the process: How to check for plugin conflicts

If you do not feel comfortable doing this yourself or if this does not solve your issue, our Yoast SEO Premium plugin comes with one year of (technical) support.

Hi! Okay so I have tried deactivating all plugins/using troubleshooting, and nothing was found, and still will not show the advanced tab for me. Any other ideas?

    Hey @smaisley,

    Thank you for your reply.

Are you logged in with an administrator account on your site? Or with any other role like an author? When logged in as an administrator, please check under SEO – General – Features (tab) – Security: no advanced or schema settings for authors – check if that is enabled. If so, and you are logged in as an author, you’d not see the advanced settings.
