Everything on my site is on the latest version, but the advanced tab in the Yoast SEO meta box is not there.

    It only shows tabs for:
    SEO – Readability – Social

Under SEO tab, the only options are:
    Google Preview
    SEO Analysis
    + ADD related keyphrase
    Cornerstone content

I’ve seen screengrabs posted by other users where the Advanced tab shows underneath the SEO tab. I had not noticed this for ages, so could not tell at which version update that advanced noindex, nofollow, canonical URL options disappeared.

I have turned off all plugins except for YOAST SEO and WooCommerce, run it on the TwentyTwenty theme and still no advanced options show up.

However, if I copy a product which I know was previously set to noindex, even though I cannot see the noindex/no follow/canonical URL settings, it remembers this setting and does not add it to the products sitemap.

Likewise, if I copy a product which I know was previously set to be indexed, it still adds it to the products sitemap.

    Any ideas?

We apologies for any inconvenience. The issue you’re experiencing is a known bug and is planned to fix in the next release v14.2.

In the meantime, you can toggle the switch from the Yoast SEO → General → Features (tab) → Security: no advanced settings for authors options and that shall fix the issue for you.

Hi, I had already tried toggling that switch, I have tried it in both the on and off positions, but the advanced options still do not display.

    When is 14.2 release planned?

    Thanks

@southunioner The 14.2 release is planned for sometime next week.

As for your issue, can you try resetting to a default theme such as TwentyNineteen, go to SEO>General>Features and toggle the ‘Security: no advanced settings for authors’ to ‘Off’, then save, toggle it back ‘On’ again, and then save again and see if this resolves the issue?

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. Well, this kind of works, but not how it should.

If I put the Security: no advanced settings for authors toggle to ON, then the advanced options do appear. However, if I set it to OFF, so that any user can have access to these options, they do not appear.

I am running as an administrator so the advanced options should always show, not matter what the toggle is set to. But it only works in the ON position when running as admin. So it is almost back-to-front.

We apologies for any inconvenience. The issue you’re currently experiencing with the advanced (tab) is specific to a known bug and will be fixed in v14.2.

    Thanks for your understanding!

So, to clarify for anyone who is running into this issue: until this bug is fixed, in order to access the “Advanced” section of the Yoast SEO Metabox for an individual post or page, you need to go into the Yoast settings (SEO… General… “Features” tab) and change “Security: no advanced settings for authors” to “On”. Yup, that’s right… At the moment, that configuration switch does the opposite of what it says! This is occurring in v.14.1 and should be fixed in v.14.2.

    Hi @southunioner,

Yoast SEO 14.2 was released on May 26th and it includes a fix for this issue. Please let us know if updating doesn’t solve the problem.
