I have just found out that I cannot monetize my website with AdSense because it runs on www.ads-software.com. But then I have read somewhere, that some features that are natural for www.ads-software.com are not possible on WordPress.com. I am getting confused. Would it be a good step to move from .org to .com or not? Are you aware of any options for monetization on .org variant via adverts?

  • advantages going from .org to .com?

The only one I can think of….
They will host your site and domain in one location.

    Negatives?
    Cost.
    Severe Limitations.
    Limited themes.

Responding to your statement, I can assure you that you can monetize your site through AdSense on wp.org.

I don’t know if its possible through .com, but I have done many a site on .org and successfully monetized them for clients.

Sorry? Where did you read that? You can do whatever you want on your own self-hosted WordPress site – including running AdSense.

advantages from .org to .com, not the other way round ?? will it change your input content?

This thread is of the debate I had earlier today.

I am not too familiar with these two things, I must admit, so some of my questions or comments can make you grin. I apologize ??

If your at all serious about your site, development or business stick with .org .

.com is very limiting in what it allows you to do for any serious business.

I have the adverts displayed there, but the account is zero, and the pages visits are also zero, according to my AdSense account. However, I know that I have had a couple of hundreds visits since I posted the adsense adverts codes and the All In One SEO plugin also confirms, I have visitors coming.

    I do not understand this.

    Thanks Evan, I will.

Now I would like to sort out my problem. They said what they said, as you can read in the link I have provided above. It has been two months and I have not moved a bit regarding this issue.

Umm… I don’t know about that. CNN and Time might disagree with you there. ??

If you are not technically minded, do not have access to 3rd party expertise and just want to get on with creating your site (under your own domain name if necessary), wordpress.com provides quite an attractive alternative.

No – except that you cannot monetize your site using things like AdSense. Other than that, you are free to create your own content. The only times I have seem wp.com step in is when there have been serious complaints of inciting racial hatred etc.

    I agree Esmi,

some huge companies are built on WordPress (now including Microsoft ;]), but the difference here is that they are built by and supported by the VIP team, so its a tad different then the layman using WordPress.com to manage their site.

If you want a site like CNN or Fox news, You’ll probably end up paying (as a base price) $5000/mo.

I don’t think the everyday user could re-create the CNN site on a WordPress.com hosting plan.

How difficult it is to move from one platform to another? I have seen a comparison and it looks that I will lose all my settings from plugins I have downloaded and activated… I do not want to mess-up with my site…

WordPress.com does not allow plugins at all. So you will lose them all.

They also do not allow www.ads-software.com themes to be used on WordPress.com.

So if I stay with wp.org, how will I make the AdSense to read my traffic? They say that it removed some identification code from the whole advert code and that is why it is not working…

Clarification: you cannot upload your own themes to a wordpress.com site but quite a few of the themes hosted here are also available on wordpress.com – with extras. ??

    Good call Esmi ;]

I have purchased and modified my theme in CSS, so this is out of question. I have received a great customer support, although with limitations, but I am fine with that right now.

I just want the AdSense work on my wp.org. Some people say it should work, others say it will never work. So what is the truth?
